Description

SMS allows software and device change detection on a workstation. These are casual changes and a daily or even a weekly inventory are good enough to get a precise view of every machine's configuration.

This process can't answer to all of the new plug & play devices that are easily plugged and that often remain active a short time on the machines. Most of the time these short connections are not seen by the inventory agent and your system inventory is uncomplete:

  • many device management missing from inventories
  • unsecure system management with the introduction of "very changeable" devices

SMS Event Inventory proposes to extend native inventory to take care of these missing events.
